| The Valle of Fire is a Nevada state park roughly 75 miles nortwest of Las Vegas. It is a scenic area of red rock boulders and sandstone mountains. The Valley of Fire has one very attractive stone arch known as "Rock Arch" which can be seen from the road through the park. There are also several hikes, some of which pass by fairly impressive ancient petroglyphs. Backcountry trails for hiking exist and these offer the rare opportunity to see the Desert Tortoise in its natural habitat. The Valley of Fire State Park can be reached via Exit 75 about 12 miles south of I-15 This page shows photos of The Valley of Fire, its landscapes and rock formations, as well as photos of the rare Desert Tortoise.
